Team XF has launched Xeno Fighters R on itch.io!

Available for download is v0.311, the most recent stable version released on 22 August 2022 which fixes some bugs from v0.310.

  • BUGFIX: Fixed X-36 showing a banking right sprite in the continue screen

  • NEW STAGES
  • Stage DPS (DPS Check Area): This is technically a new stage, but it is only accessed in Conquest Mode by pressing the "P" key in the stage select screen. It allows you to test your ship's DPS output against a training dummy. There are no enemies in the DPS Check Area, and your DPS reports are shown after repeated 10 second trials. You can adjust your ship's weapon power at will, and you can exit the DPS Check Area by pausing the game and choosing "Quit Conquest Mode"
  • NEW COMPLETED BOSSES
    • Stage F-C: Balor (final revision, four out of five phases complete)
  • PLAYER FIGHTER CHANGES
    • Amada Vipros main shot: Decreased damage from 28/31/34/37/40 to 24/26/28/30/32 per shot burst
    • Amada Vipros Laser Overdrive (Serpent Swarm): Increased damage from 22/23/24/25 to 26/28/30/32 per burst
    • Raiden mk-II bomb explosion sound effect increased in volume by about 33%
    • Xelcor Laser Overdrive (Disruption Field): Field reflects up to 100 bullets each time, all enemy bullets after 100 are absorbed until the field dissipates. Reflected bullet damage increased from 5 to 20 (theoretical maximum damage output on a single target is 2000)
    • Solvalou: Gelmak Spario (Laser): Improved tracking algorithm targets multiple enemies at a time instead of only one at a time when the weapon is active. Damage increased from 80/85/90/100 to 105/110/115/125 per second when all laser heads are overlapping enemies. No longer makes a enemy contact noise when touching an untargetable enemy
    • Miria: Complete overhaul. She is now a single mode fighter with a unique powerup system. She has six weapons as part of a new subweapon, "System D.P.": MultiBullets, Repeller, Fireball, Grenade, Wave, and Hyper Laser. Weapons are changed by pressing the SP button (button 3). Each weapon needs to be powered up individually.
    • Miria: Aspect of Defense (Bomber): Improved enemy target selection algorithm for Area Blaster part of bomber so that when there are more than one valid enemy target onscreen, each Area Blaster orb will home in towards different targets. Increased hitbox size of Area Blaster and Bullet Shield orbs. Increased volume of Miria 1-up sound and gave it wider stereo depth
    • Castor: Spark Hurricane (unique Bomber): Increased hitbox size of bomber projectiles and invisible bullet eater projectiles
    • Stearman E75: Refactored rate-of-fire issues at point-blank range. Previously, the closer you got to an enemy, the faster everything (laser and shotgun) fired, so the E75 was quite weak far away and stupidly powerful point blank. This has been changed so that no matter how far away you are from the enemy, the E75's ROF does not change at all.
    • Vic Viper: Implemented new sprites for the Vic Viper
    • Phyxius: Fixed and implemented updated sfx for the Phyxius's missile
    • Tengai L weapon (Juuman Boruto): Increased damage from 60/80/100/120 to 120/140/160/180 per laser barrage
    • Secret command enabled
    • Another secret command enabled
  • ENEMY CHANGES
    • Blue dome tank from Tatsujin: No longer makes a shooting noise when offscreen
    • Medium enemy tank: Increased HP from 550 to 800
    • Large enemy tank: Increased HP from 1000 to 1600
    • Stage 3-A endboss (Jasper Gigas): Changed delay before boss can be hit by player weapons from 10 seconds to 15 seconds
    • Stage EX-2 endboss (Blue Optomon): No longer fires fast seaweed attacks in its first two attack phases.
  • BUGFIXES AND REGRESSION FIXES
    • Regression fix: Fixed extend medal counts display on the widget to be consistent with HUD readout (i.e. changes 150/150 to 0/350)
    • Regression fix: fixed game crash on ship info widget when the game chooses a ship ID number it does not recognize
    • BUGFIX: Fixed music in some cases not looping when they are supposed to
    • BUGFIX: Green VP1 capital fleet ships: Fixed DESTROYED AT A TIME internal timer bonus not getting disabled properly, resulting in an infinite time allowed between the destruction of its two turrets to get a DESTROYED AT A TIME bonus
    • BUGFIX: Stage EX-1 (Gemini Canyon): Fixed rare game crash when the large enemy (Bringer) tries to shoot when the player does not exist (i.e. in between player deaths)
  • OTHER ADDITIONS
    • Added set starting lives and bombs after selecting a ship
    • Added run summary screen at the end of a completed run in all modes
    • Added new Name Entry theme (user-customizable in xfmusic.ini)
  • OTHER FIXES
    • Remastered the Stage F-C area 2 theme for the original ships
    • Remastered the Stage F-A stage theme
    • Volume boost to Tengai's stage clear theme
    • New sprites by pops: Silver Banshee, various spaceship enemies
    • Fixed shadows being drawn under some ground enemies and some background elements. This issue was due to the change in draw depth handling from legacy Game Maker to Game Maker Studio 1.4
    • Slaves that are destroyed when the player dies no longer make an explosion sound effect
    • Ship info widget now shows stats ratings as letter ranks (E,D,C,B,A,S) and are separate from the graph axes labels
