A downloadable fangame for Windows

Xeno Fighters R is an in-development shmup fangame inspired by the Raiden Fighters series by Seibu Kaihatsu.

The game has four original fighters: the Amada Vipros, the Phyxius, the Zaiva, and the Xelcor. It also features guest fighters from other shoot 'em up games by Psikyo, Capcom, Konami, and others.

There are 20 stages to play in the game with four different game modes to select from.

The story of Xeno Fighters R involves BRES, a group of humans subverted by the hostile Keto. BRES and the Keto extraterrestrials attack ATHENA through various periods in Earth's war history, using the wars as cover to their operations to destroy the Earth. The guest fighters do not have any connection to the story.

boss rush has some big bugs pls fix them

We just released v0.393, which fixes some long-standing bugs in Boss Rush Mode. Check it out!

How to unlock characters

If you're having trouble accessing the complete roster, there are two things you can try:

    1. Check your General Settings, in the Options menu. The roster settings can be toggled between the new grouped layout, the 12-character beginner roster, and the classic all-fighter roster. Change that setting to suit your needs.
    2. On either of the complete rosters, the button you have assigned to start and pause the game will flip through each page, one after another, and go back to page 1 at the end of the list.

    The game is very nice!!

    So I speaking my feedback.

    (1 edit)

    1. Swap Castor and Pollux's slaves

    2. Add Stress Relief mod (

Enemies do not attack in this mode.

    Recommended for non-shmup players )

    3. Add astro slug skin(pilot: Tarma)

    (+1)

    1. Castor and Pollux' Slaves are different colored because the Slaves are nearly the same size as the Gemini Wing ships. If they were the same color, people will confuse the Slaves with their own fighter

    2. We have other options to make the game easier for the player: changing starting rest lives and bombs, for example.

    3. Tarma and Eri will be represented in a second Metal Slug fighter, likely the Slug Flyer jet.

I understand. So stage F-C boss is so difficult in novice Difficulty although I cleared story mode novice difficulty(played x-36)(24-7-6). I will expect Slug Flyer jet(Tarma and Eri's fighter) and cheat.

    (+1)

The Stage F-C endboss is the true final boss and you have to do very well in Story Mode to even reach it. For those reasons, the fight against it has to be difficult.

    I see. thank.

Haven't played it yet but from the gameplay footage, this is by far the best doujin shmup I have ever seen.

As an avid fan of Shoot Em' Ups, this game looks like a personal heaven made just for me. The amount of playable ships and all the stages, music, bosses, all from many other shmups, (and, BONZIbuddy, for some reason, expand dong.) and all of them are amazingly ported (and buffed/nerfed) from the original.

This game is fantastic, can't wait to see more of this. Keep on shooting, STG's forever.

(PS. I'm making a series where I review Shoot Em' Ups, I want to review this game on the first episode, I'm linking it here once I upload it.)

Will there be android port if so can you please make one i did loved to play it on my phone

There isn't one planned right now, and I doubt we'd be able to get Play Store approval, but creating an APK one can sideload may be possible in the future. Feasible, but no promises.

...well i guess i will have to try to run it on a Windows emulator

Sorry to break it to ya but, I tried running this on Exagear and it didn't launch at all, buy a computer.

i already have a laptop so ya

One the best shmups I've played!

I first played this back in 2010-something and I’m pleasantly surprised this is still being updated. Truly one of the shmup tributes of all time.

    like the whip

    (+1)

Truly one of the best shmup ever!

    (+4)

A surprisingly good free fan-made shmup that brings together characters, music, and levels from classic arcade games by Psikyo, Capcom, Konami, and more, sometimes in the most surprising way possible (including cameos by Bonzy Buddy and Clippy as minibosses). Check it out !

Here's my first playthrough if anyone if you're curious to see how it plays :

    (+1)

I've already been playing this for a very long time and quite enjoying this crossover shmup! Hope to see this project further improve!

    (+1)

More like the Super Mario Crossover of shmups. Very cool!

The difficulty seems a little unbalanced, with the game generally being very easy and difficult sections only ocurring every now and then. Then again I was playing the Galaga ship which I think isn't recommended. When using that, the Afghanistan boss dies without even firing a single bullet! (on normal)

Couldn't find an option for two player which is a shame. Other than that though, a very good concept and I'm looking forward to updates!

    (+1)

The point is scoring well (chains, collecting medals and Micluses, etc.) and "easy" sections are as important as dangerous ones for scoring purposes.

    (+2)

    The Smash Bros. of Shmups!
